Our History
Embarking on a journey of adventure and service in 1927, the Seychelles Scouts Association (SSA) has been at the forefront of youth development in Seychelles for nearly a century. Originally an overseas branch of the Scouts Association of the United Kingdom, SSA has evolved into a vibrant, inclusive organization, welcoming boys and girls from all backgrounds.
The spirit of scouting in Seychelles remained resilient even when scouting was banned following the 1977 coup d’état. Reformed in 1994 with the return to multiparty politics, SSA joined the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 2002, affirming its global scouting brotherhood.
Today, with troops across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, SSA continues to grow, empowering young people to become responsible, active citizens.

At the heart of the Seychelles Scouts Association is our commitment to the holistic development of young people. Our mission is to guide and support the youth of Seychelles in their physical, mental, and spiritual growth. Through a diverse array of activities and programs, we aim to inculcate values of responsibility, leadership, and community service, fostering a sense of adventure and a lifelong dedication to creating a better world.
